	Anouk Espi The exciting young South African violinist, Anouk Espi, received her training in South Africa from the illustrious Professor Jack de Wet. She was then awarded a place at the Royal Northern College of Music as well as three international scholarships that enabled her to take up her place and study with Chris Rowland (of the Fitzwilliam Quartet) and gain her Masters Degree in violin performance.

	James Grace James Grace is one of South Africa’s leading concert artists. He is the first guitarist ever to have received the Tagore Gold Medal from the Royal College of Music in London, where he studied with Carlos Bonell.

	Marc Lottering MARC Lottering hails from Cape Town, and is considered by many to be one of the hottest comics on offer from South Africa.

	Marietjie Pauw Marietjie Pauw (flute) received flute tuition from Evá Tamássy at the University of Stellenbosch, where she was awarded the degrees BMus, Hons.BMus and MMus (Performance), all cum laude.

	Mark Hoeben & Ina Wichterich Mark & Ina paired up in TANGO DEL FUEGO and began studying the dance in November 2000. After the success of that show, (Tango del Fuego won the Best Dance and Movement Production award at KKNK, Oudtshoorn in 2001 and Mark was nominated for a Fleur du Cap award for Best Contribution to a Musical), Ina began teaching and performing with Mark on a regular basis. They combine tenderness, form and musicality in their improvised Tango performances.

Review

DARLING word soos ‘n moerse koeksister gevelg met die Voorkamerfest. Die huise in die bo-dorp en die onder-dorp word saam gevelg as venues vir optredes. Die strate is oorvol met motors wat parkeerplek soek.

Voor Evita se Perron word die plaaslike Taxi’s ingeryg om feesgangers na hulle show toe te neem. Die program bestaan uit 18 verskillende items en daar is 6 roetes met 3 shows op elke roete. Die hele avontuur is soos om ‘n Lucky Packet oop te maak. You get a random ticket which is colour coded and the colour coded taxi takes you to your three different venues.

Die voorkamer van die ou Pastorie met sy hout vloer en hout stoele is geensins meer grander as Sofie se huis met linolium vloer en plastiek stoele nie.

My eerste vertoning is twee vroue, Martha Harrison and Dela Seward, van London Barefoot Co met hulle fisieke teater optrede wat gleuwe uit hule lewens voorstel. Die groot venster wat van die stoep af oop skuif word baie effektief gebruik vir Dela om haar verskyning te maak, net om weer rats op een rolskaats by die deur uit te wip.

In die onder-dorp ontmoet ons vir David Kramer met sy vellies en kitaat. His show is so unplugged, the wires are all hanging loose and he is a master story teller.

Net om die draai kom ons by Sofie se huis aan, waar Marietjie Pauw fluit speel. Sy kies drie Suid Afrikaanse komponiste se werk en onder andere ‘n Darling inwoner, Hendrik Hofmeyer se werk ook.

Terug by die Perron kry ons ‘n lekker tafel, koue bottle wit wyn en heerlike buffet middag ete. Na ete het ons genoeg tyd om by ‘n tent in te wip vir ‘n ekstra puppet show, Die hart se smeltkroes – The Alchemists Heart.

Die agtermiddag roete neem ons eerste na ‘n mooi kerk gebou, waar ons die Xhoi Conextion aantref met hulle plakkerskamp poetry en musiek. Garth, Glen en Jethro het ‘n uitsonderlike namier van vermaak.

In skryende kontras tref ons die Concierge van Noel Coward by die volgende huis aan. The maestro’s butler with his pianist entertained us with some of the songs and stories he lived with.

Die dag het lank geword, en dit is skemer toe ons in chantey town aankom. Hier kry ons die kersie op die koek(sister). Mark Lottering laat lê ons van die lag met sy kwinkslae. Die dag sluit af met ‘n heerlike hoogte punt toe ons ‘n lift saam met Mark kry na die Perron toe. Toe ons in daai klein BMW van hom klim gooi hy sy BEE grappie, maar ons wou net WEE ! Can you do that?
