Anele Dyasi

Anele Dyasi is a talented young magician from Khayelitsha, South Africa

In 2008 Anele joined the College of Magic.

He worked hard at his training and achieved many successes along the way, participating in contests, shows, allied arts and charity shows.

In 2011, as a Course 4 student he made it into the Western Cape Junior Magician Championships as a Stage Magic finalist – a great achievement at the young age of 13 years.

In 2012 Anele was awarded the Supreme Trophy for Up-and-Coming Magician at the Western Cape Junior Magician Championships for his Stage Magic Act.

In 2012 Anele travelled to the United States as a member of the College of Magic’s Project Vegas Team, where he competed in the International Junior Stage Magic Contest.

2013 saw Anele winning his way through to the Western Cape Junior Magician Championships again, this time in the Close-up Magic Championships as well as the Stage Magic Championships – an incredible achievement. He was awarded Runner-up Champion for Close-up Magic.

In 2013 Anele won the highly contested Magical Ability Shield at the Annual College of Magic Graduation Ceremony. He was also awarded the highest Award as Top Student in Course 6 – the coveted Student of the Year Trophy.

In 2014 Anele again won his way through as a Close-up finalist in the Western Cape Junior Magician Championships.

2015 was a great year for Anele – he travelled to China where he won a Bronze Trophy for 3rd place in the International Magic Close-up Contest.

He returned to Cape Town where he competed in the Senior Close-up/Micro Magic category of the South African National Magic Championships [although he still qualified as a junior!] and won 3rd place [to Stuart Lightbody and Colin Underwood’s 1st and 2nd] – another amazing achievement.

He was crowned the 2018 Western Cape Junior Close-Up Magic Champion. Dyasi’s winning act featured a money-centric close-up magic routine

From 2015 to this day, he has ‘given back’ to magic by assisting with close-up magic training for young South Africans, teaching in the senior classes at the College of Magic. He is also a regular performer at the Traditional Children’s Magic Festival and is a technical wizard, too.

Anele is well-known for his amazing ‘toaster magic’ which preceded Piff’s version.

Dyasi has been recognized for his passion and progress in magic, and his victory in the championships is an inspiration to young magicians. He encourages others to experiment with their acts, be true to themselves, and try new things to impress judges.
