Face Time

Storytelling told through dance

Today we experience a life where we are constantly connected. With social media at our fingertips, we live conveniently in close contact and we are able to know who we are speaking to online at all times.

However, once upon a time, the narrative was quite different and a pen and paper were the means of creativity and connection. Writing letters and postcards required care, time, and patience. We put time into correspondence and had to wait ages for a reply, quite unlike what we have access to now; drafting a quick email on your way to work or in between meetings.

Face Time is a story from a time not-so-long ago. It is a duet about two pen pals meeting, face to face, for the first time. A beautiful story of innocent strangers unlocking what their “face time” looks like, using lyrical jazz and urban/street styles of movement. Performed by two different casts of outstanding South African artists and dancers, we invite you to sit back and take a paper plane to a time of letters, writing, and the excitement of meeting someone for the first time.
