Solomon & Anekin: A Dynamic Classical Duo

Solomon Mannel completed his BMus(hons) degree in Flute Performance in 2024, at the University of Cape Town, under the tutelage of Dr. Liesl Stoltz. That same year, he participated in the International Woodwind Competition and the 6th South African Conductors’ Competition. Solomon has performed in various orchestras, symphonic wind ensembles, chamber music groups, and at music festivals across Cape Town. Solomon is currently pursuing his postgraduate studies in chamber music while also teaching flute and piano in Cape Town.

Anekin Pockpass is a 23-year-old Classical Guitarist residing in Cape Town, South Africa. He is currently in he’s 1st year of his Masters degree at the South African College of music (University of Cape Town) studying under internationally acclaimed guitarist James Grace. He has participated in a wide range of competitions from the Schock Chamber Music Competition, Stellenbosch National Ensemble Competition and respective solo competitions as the Edgemead Classical Guitar Competition and Tygerberg International Eisteddfod, receiving gold and silver among them. As a musician, Anekin’s great passion is depicting the human experience through his performances. That one can find meaning and beauty in the mundane of our daily lives. By being a student and a music teacher, Anekin finds great delight in engaging with people. Through music he finds himself learning more not just from others, but how he fits in the world and how to make a difference for another. Among practicing the guitar and teaching, Anekin’s passions are running, reading and language learning.
